A rare opportunity to study cello with a Juilliard trained concert cellist.
Locations
Issaquah: Sunday, Wednesday
Redmond: Tuesday, Friday
Lesson Format
In person, online, or hybrid
Consultation
New students begin with a 20 to 30 minute consultation at no charge. This is to determine if the studio is a good fit.
• Non beginners: prepare a major and minor scale (2 or 3 octaves) and a short solo piece
• Beginners: please have your own cello before starting lessons
For instrument rental or purchase, see the Cello Rental page.
Program Structure
Christie focuses on building disciplined, efficient, and well prepared students. Lessons center on three areas:
1. Structured practice and accountability
Clear weekly goals, simple practice systems, and steady progress
2. Technical foundation that scales
Clean, reliable technique that supports long term development
3. Strategic preparation for auditions and competitions
Students develop the ability to perform with confidence and consistency in auditions and on stage
For Students and Families
Students do not need to start at an advanced level. Beginners are welcome. At the start, I work with each student to set clear goals and create a plan. From there, lessons become a collaborative process, following that plan with consistency week to week. Guidance, feedback, and effort come together to create steady progress. With the right structure and support, students build confidence quickly, and improvement becomes both visible and rewarding. Lessons follow a structured calendar and weekly schedule. Consistency is essential for meaningful progress.
I enjoy working with students who are curious, motivated, and open to learning. Each student is guided at their own pace, with a focus on building a strong foundation, developing musical understanding, and growing confidence in performance.
For students interested in youth symphony auditions or competitions, I provide clear and practical guidance on repertoire, preparation, and how to practice effectively. Lessons include specific weekly goals so both students and parents understand what to focus on and how progress is being made.
I believe in maintaining high standards while creating a supportive and encouraging environment. With consistency and the right structure, students are able to improve steadily while continuing to enjoy the process of making music. The discipline, focus, and problem solving skills developed through this work translate into stronger academic habits, greater independence, and long term success!
