Tuition and Studio Policies
Damage to my equipment or property:
If a member of your family damages my property or equipment, out of respect for what I am trying to do, please offer to make it right. We are friends here!
Liability:
There is very little risk involved with music lessons; however I know that people have accidents and bad things can happen. Please understand that I work hard to plan all of my lessons and events so that everyone is as safe as possible. In the event something bad happens, I will be there to provide support to the best of my ability.
*Let me know if you see a way I can improve my services. I want to be my best! If I see a way to make it happen!
Music Institute of Seattle Tuition and Policies Pledge:
I have read the Music Institute of Seattle polices and agree to abide by the guidelines and policies listed. I pledge to have my child attend all scheduled lessons and will notify my teacher in advance in the event my child is not able to attend a lesson. I will pay tuition to my teacher as stated in the policies. I understand that only ONE missed lesson can be excuse per semester, all other missed lessons after that will be consider a forfeit and my student will simply miss the benefit for that lesson. I will pay either monthly or semesterly tuition to my teacher on time like it was stated in the policy. I will make sure to pay the required recital fee to the venue and to the accompanist before or on the day of the rehearsal and recital. I will find a regular at home practice schedule that work for our family and will ask my teacher for help if and when we have trouble with this!

Here are a few ways you can help in return…
Tuition and Studio Policies
- Tuition is due monthly at the 1st of the month or your first lesson of the month, or can be paid by the semester to simplify billing. Tuition may be paid by check payable to "MUSIC INSTITUTE OF SEATTLE" or online though services that do not have fees, Venmo, PayPal, Applepay, Zella Pay.
- I follow public School's district calendar, which includes winter, mid-winter and spring break.
- In order for your student to receive the full benefit of our educational program, they must attend consistently. Your student's weekly spot is reserved just for them each week of the month. Each student has the same set-up, and other students attend before and after your student.
- Instead of making up missed lessons, if the student needs to have any, I offer students one absence per semester. A personal day, that they can be excused and do not have to pay for that one lesson. Fall semester is from September to January, the Spring semester is from February to June, Summer semester is from July to August. Personal days can not be carried over to the next semester.
- If you let your teacher know at least 48 hours in advance, it maybe possible to find another available spot the same week to make up the lesson at your teacher’s convenience. When that is not possible the student can be excused by redeeming their once per semester personal day. If your student has already redeemed their once per semester personal day, tuition will be applied for that missed lesson.
- If a student can not come to their in-person lesson because of their circumstances, they are welcome to take their lessons that day online via Zoom, Facetime or Skype.
- In exceptional circumstances, students who need to take a leave of absence from lessons for a short period of time may hold their lesson spot by paying Half tuition for the lessons missed.
- If the teacher needs to cancel or miss a lesson, they will make it up to the student by rescheduling or refund the tuition for that lesson.
- Please be mindful, repetitive lateness, cancellations, unprepared for their weekly assignment, and/or No Shows may result in termination of services and forfeiture of secured weekly appointment time.
- Lessons are 25 minutes in 30-minute slot, 40 minutes in 45 minutes slot and 55 minutes in 60 minutes slot, a small gap is for smooth transition between students and that the next student can start their lesson on time.
- In the case of a snow day, or possible future circumstances of a pandemic, all lessons may be held online.
- Students that are playing competitively will need to follow the Practice Guideline recommended, and a minimum of 3 rehearsals with the designated pianist on top of your regular lessons before an event.
- One recitals will be offered to all the students that are qualified to participate, willing participants will split accompanist and facility fee payable to the recital venue or to the piano accompanist.
